I saw them at the Manchester Free Trade Hall in the very early 70s and they were great. Did any UK catters notice that all of the black and white footage of them shown on TV this week featured the crickets (Sonny Curtis, Jerry Allison and Joe Mauldin) as the backing musicians? Of course, Phil was one of the pallbearers at Buddy Holly's funeral. I always used to reckon that whichever version of love hurts people remembered pretty much defined their era as a teenager - the Everly's 1960 original for us oldies, and others in 1973 and 1975 for the younger ones. R
