Well said Howard, I feel it is good to sit in on a singing session and listen to someone sing a ballad from their part of the country in their own distinct dialect and using their own style of phrasing. I have been to many a session where I heard someone sing three ballads each in a different style and dialect. Mind you, he was good at it but the feeling just wasn't there.
