I'm in my late 30's and I should be able to make rational decisions.

However, I'm scared of dentists.

I put up with really bad tothache rather than approaching a dentist. I'm aware enough to realise that this attitude will eventualy result in even worse toothache and all my teeth falling out.

I still can't take the 'plunge' and actually go. I guess part of my worry is that the dentist will moan at me, and tell me my teeth are the worst he's ever seen, and criticse my for not doing something sooner.

Any advice?
