vlmagee Gillette/Mangsen 2nd Live Webcast 2014 (6) Gillette/Mangsen 2nd Live Webcast 2/25/2014 20 Feb 14

I posted last year before their webcast, but it was a last minute thing because the venue's camera had not been working and I didn't know until the morning of the show if the webcast would happen. This year, it's smooth sailing (fingers crossed that it stays that way). Here's a slightly revised version of that message.

Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen are doing their second live webcast from Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, CA next Tuesday, 2/25 at 8PM PDT. The gig is in California, so the time will not work for everyone, but if you can watch it, I know you will enjoy it. (It is not recorded, so you have to watch it live).

I can not say enough about how excellent the pair are as a duo, while their individual talents stand on their own. Steve is well known as a songwriter, whose songs have been recorded by artists like John Denver, Garth Brooks, Nanci Griffith, Ian & Sylvia, Waylon Jennings, The Kingston Trio, Anne Murray, Linda Ronstadt, Kenny Rogers, Tammy Wynette, Josh Ritter and others. You will recognize many of the songs when Steve sings them; he is a wonderful guitar player with a unique style, and a superb vocalist as well. Some of his best known songs are Darcy Farrow, Bed of Roses, The River, and Back on the Street Again.

Cindy is a wonderful vocalist, who performs both her own songs and traditional songs, and accompanies herself on guitar, banjo, concertina, or mountain dulcimer. Her harmonies on Steve's songs are beautiful.

Their web site is at compassrosemusic.com. Click on the You Tube Videos link in the top navigation to see some samples of their performances (as well as a tutorial on how to play Darcy Farrow - for people with more agile fingers than I have). There are additional and some more recent videos at the Concert Window website (see link below).

Again, the webcast is ,Tuesday night, 2/25 at 8PM PDT/11PM EDT, and you can watch from anywhere. "Tickets" are $5 and you can buy them here: (ConcertWindow.com). The webcast will be viewable on computers, iPhones, and iPads from anywhere in the world. The show will not be recorded or archived, but you can watch it live in HD.

"See" you there!

Valerie
