In my case GSS it is "As it befell one Holy Day, as many do in the year, Little Musgrave to the church did go, to see fair ladies there"; I don't think that it detracts from the dramatic/climatic previous two verses but simply rounds off the song with a reminder that from Musgraves initial (almost)innocent intentions such carnage ensued. Jim, Louis Killen also learned "Tom Padgett" from Brian Blanchard.
