Max Tone Tune Req: Duncan Chisholm (11) RE: Tune Req: Duncan Chisholm 21 Dec 00

J.in B. (sounds like Whisky, to me!) Thanks for all the info. Ain't put the coffee on yet, but will browse later. I must find a dots/Midi programme myself. Dunc will just love all the tunes named after(or before!) him. Do you have his later "Redpoint" CD? It's still available here, if not. I'm looking for any "Redgum" albums, preferably CD, or were they only on vinyl? I'm up for doing swaps for other stuff only available locally, if you are. See below my message to chanteyranger for suggestions.

chanteyranger,
Many thanks also for your offer,
Dunc's unavailable, but seeing as he ain't got a copy himself, it's long deleted, and the record company probably no longer exists, I'd lay odds he'll want a copy, too! I take it you've got it on cassette, not CD? Any chance you could do a few copies of the whole tape? Mainly my fiddler mate (who hails from a minute west coast village in Scotland -- two of his nearest neighbours are Angus Grant, fiddler, repairer, tunesmith, teacher and father of "young" Angus, fiddler with "Shooglenifty", and Mike Anderson, who runs "Starfish", making all sizes of Clarsach and other small harps, as well as gorgeous electric Fiddles and 'Cellos. Lucky B*stard).
But I'd love a copy too, plus Dunc, my daughters fiddle teacher, John in Brisbane?, and maybe a few spare.

Could swap you for a copy(ies)of "Redpoint", or other local CDs/tapes. I've just got Douglas Lawrence's first CD. He was taught by famous Doric fiddler Hector Macandrew, (98 of whose unpublished tunes have just come to light, 20 years after his death - book due soon) then studied classically, played in the Scottish National Orchestra, TAUGHT Yehudi Menuhin Hector's tunes for his Memorial concert, but has never recorded in 35 years playing! This man has a tortured soul pouring out of his bow.
Get back to me before copying away madly, though, as I would prefer CD, if someone turns up an example to copy.

Could you possibly jot down the Record Company details off the cassette, post 'em back and I'll try to trace them over here, as a first step! Ta. I wonder who's got the Master.........maybe time for a re-release!

SWAPS (if either of you are up for it)-- Trans-oceanic postage COSTS, so there's no point sending single items -- I'd rather gather up odd items (CDs, song/tunebooks, etc.)over a few weeks, even months,(depending upon my fluctuating budget) until the parcel's up to a reasonable size and swap for a similar value parcel, including shipping. I reckon wants lists are better on PM boards than a thread. Try me.
Rob.
