Fred Neil was the 12 string guitar player on the "Dream Lover" demo session. According to Michael Seth Starr in his biography on Bobby Darin (Bobby Darin: A Life) it was Neil Sedaka who suggested that the guitar part be put up an octave. Fred, Al Caiola, or whoever did the final session still copied Fred Neil's original guitar part.
