McLatchey, In the context of this song's words, I would presume he is saying he will use force ( fire arms + his "patent pill machine" ... a "cap & ball revolver" ...!) as a cure for the effects of the 'Traps') ('Troopers' ... mounted police's ...) gripes about him.
