        Sam is a dazzling young fiddler in the English traditional style who's been booked as a soloist at festivals from the age of 11. He founded his own band Kerfuffle. Currently he plays with Bellowhead, Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings, The Fay Hield Trio and in a duo with accordionist, singer & dancer Hannah James. He also plays viola, bagpipes & drums.
He's an experienced & inspiring fiddle tutor.

        The workshop will primarily look at ways to inject life into fiddle tunes. Sam will be covering right arm & left hand techniques, improving sound quality, learning a few tunes & discovering how to search for exciting repertoire yourself, & how to free yourself from the simple notes of a tune.
        N.B. Music will not be sent in advance unless specifically requested!

11.00        An introduction, learning a simple tune or two, & and in-depth look at the right arm & bowing techniques.

12.30 - 13.30         Lunch

13.30        Participants will play with each other & look at moving away from the notes of a tunes to listen to one another & create beautiful music.

15.15        Tea/coffee break

15.30        Looking for new repertoire, making it your own, & a whistle-stop tour of ornamentation.

16.45        Finish
