A bit more info in case anyone is interested in the origins of the programme; It started in 1939, a few days after the outbreak of war. It went out at 11am on Monday mornings, and a Scottish presenter called Herbert Wiseman created the programme, with the help of a few volunteers from the BBC in Glasgow who sang on the recordings. They did 'Billy Boy', 'Golden Slumber' and 'Michael Finnegan' on the first programme. William Appleby, a schools music organiser and choirmaster from Doncaster started presenting around 1947.
