I believe what you're saying is that life can be confusing, and people are complex creatures, showing different sides to their characters; either very funny, kind and entertaining, or devious, unpleasant and despicable. I also think you refer to the song Pavlova by Rolf Harris, which you have said you enjoyed as a child. As Al Whittle says above, as long as the person isn't a criminal or toxic to you, there's no harm in finding them amusing company. I'm not sure myself I'd want to associate with a chap who'd deceived his girlfriend by lying about having cancer, but you have your own choice about that. Regarding Harris's songs, I too found some of them very funny, and taught them to my pupils. I have to say, I still like those songs, but for me now, they're rather overshadowed by what he has done.
