I poked a pinhole in a piece of junkmail and projected the image onto the wall (I was in Natick, MA). Worked fine.
Last time we had a really good partial eclipse up here, all the teachers told the kids not to look at it for fear of lawsuits if the little darlings hurt their eyes! As a result, I spent the day explaining that it wasn't going to be safe to look at the sun when the eclipse was over -- eclipses didn't make it dangerous to look at the sun, it's always dangerous. GAAH! Built a big ol' pinhole box that time, too, and stood outside the library practically waving down cars to come and look...
