Somewhere I read that this song was based on "Little Darlin, Pal of Mine" by the Carter Family. Is there any evidence supporting this? I noticed that both tunes are similar in the last lines of the verses, and both songs have lines from "Columbia Stockade Blues". And of course all of the songs have the same theme.
