I'm playing my first gig soon with my own sound system: a vocal mic, a guitar mic (no pickup), the usual... I've been practicing and I'm comfortable with it. I've noticed that some performers choose to position the guitar mic under the boom rather than above it. And there are different angles at which to aim the boom at the guitar. Are there sound (no pun) reasons for such choices or is it a matter of personal preference?
