Jerry Friedman Tree songs? esp. Celtic? (52* d) Lyr Add: Land of the Silver Birch^^ 30 Aug 98

Tim, I think the song Alison had in mind is one I learned as a child:

Land of the silver birch,
Home of the beaver,
Where still the mighty moose
Wanders at will.

Chorus:
Blue lake and rocky shore,
I will return once more.
Boom-de-de-boom-boom boom-de-de-boom-boom Boom boom boom.

High on a rocky ledge
I will build my wigwam,
Close by the water's edge,
Silent and still.

Chorus

There was at least one more verse; it ended "Hills of the north." I'd be interested in the origin of this song.
