The comment about the festivals not wanting to book women bands is not apocryphal. It happened. It happened to me when I was looking for gigs for Anonyma in the 1980s and apparently it has happened again to a much higher-profile band this year. There are a still a lot of issues about women performers being booked by both clubs and festivals, although things are generally far better than they were in the 1980s. Why would you think that Woman's Hour would want to kick men anywhere, Guest? Did you listen to the interview? Do you listen to the programme normally? Women standing up for themselves are not necessarily anti-men, you know, and it's very sad that you should think they are. Many men would like to see more women booked by clubs and festivals, as well. Oddly enough, we make up half the population.
