This should be a straightforward job for Audacity's noise removal tool, as long as you can get a good sample of the hum by itself, and as long as the hum is constant in level though the recording. It's more sophisticated than a series of notch filters, which would indeed impair the sound quite badly. Jonny Sunshine (above) has good advice too.

Back to the Main Forum Page
