You're right, I don't hear an "s." To me, it sounds like he's singing "That my hammer ringin'..." It's too bad that the recording is so muddy sounding--the lyrics in the "a man ain't nothing but a man" verse are something I've never come across before. Dansley's version might be much better known if it weren't for the poor quality of the recording. Jim
