nboldock Wreckless Eric returns to Hull 10 Dec (9) RE: Wreckless Eric returns to Hull 10 Dec 20 Nov 14

Hi all

I am the editor/creator of Hull Music Archive.

Firstly - Steve, I've just responded to your email - thanks for getting in touch.

The archive website only launched about a fortnight ago and can be found at www.hullmusicarchive.co.uk

At the moment the content is minimal but there is already plenty more to come - my inbox is "busy", shall we say!

The Archive aims to cover all eras and all genres and as you can see from the website is not limited to just bands and artists, but also covers venues, studios, labels, publications, festivals, record/music shops, people, places... the lot. It is very open-ended and we are very keen to make it a community project as time goes by.

We are creating an electronic online archive rather than a physical archive so people need only send us images/scans of material - though a few bands have sent CDs and whatnot which is fine by me, it makes the job a little easier and also means I get to listen to more music, which can only be a good thing.

Whether in future years we look at physical exhibitions, maybe - there are a lot of things in the pipeline related to the Archive that will be happening outside of the website itself.

The website is live now, but we are officially "launching" at the aforementioned Wreckless Eric gig. Eric has kindly agreed to do this and is fully behind the project.

We also now have Henry Priestman on board as a supporter of the Archive and hopefully he will also be promoting the project in some capacity very soon.

I should add that we are not the main promoters for the Wreckless Eric gig - that honour goes to Andy Richardson at HU3 Productions and Jayney at Off The Road, but we are helping out with as much as we can.

Given Hull's place in the heritage of folk music, particularly from the 1960s onwards, I would hope and expect that there will be a great deal of folk content on the site eventually. If anyone is keen to assist in any way whatsoever, please get in touch with us via the website or on info@hullmusicarchive.co.uk or even on Facebook (Hull Music Archive, surprisingly).

Any questions... fire away!

Cheers
Nick
