Sidewinder said, in the original posting that it's a "warm up gig" for the Beverley Folk Festival. I've not been to Beverley for many years, but perhaps this is in the nature of the pre-festival events at, for example Sidmouth and Towersey, which are not necessarily intended to be folk gigs. Indeed, the Bootleg Beatles were at Towersey in August. A good night , a fun gig, it was before the festival started (though attracted a lot of festival goers) and did not compromise the integrity of the festival. Likewise Pam Ayres, Acker Bilk etc at Sidmouth's pre-festival events in recent years. If it helps to (a) bring in some extra cash and (b) attract a local audience who may not otherwise attend the "folk" festival - but expose that audience to the festival's venues - then ... why not?
