All very well, were it not to have omitted the key distinction between trivium and quadrivium, that the trivium was designed to fit students from a range of countries to be able to debate coherently, while the quadrivium were contrasting facets of a central underlying theological tenet. They were sometimes paired geometry and cosmology, arithmetic and music. I use the term cosmology because it was considered to evtend to include horoscopy. |
