Joybell, this is a very late answer to your question, but the way to make italics is to precede the to-be-italicized text with the letter i, enclosed in pointy angle brackets, and follow the text with a slash and the i in the pointy brackets. Because doing it correctly on my screen would make those instructions disappear, just for illustration I will use the open and close parenthetical curves here. "(i)ITALICS(/I)" You would use the pointy angles instead. To make BOLD text, you use the letter B within the brackets, rather than "i". To make underlined text, use "u".
