Players can be and are punished for offences missed by officials. Players can't be punished retrospectively for incidents that appear in the referee's match report, however. The laws of the land ensure that players are not immune from punishment for gratuitous violent behaviour.

I like the goal line technology but a TV ref with big screen replays of in-play incidents wouldn't work. That would completely wreck the flow of the game. We already have more than enough tactical hold-ups, what with managers making substitutions in the dying seconds of the game. That should be banned except in cases of injury. I think clubs should be heavily penalised if their players crowd the referee or stand in front of him following a decision.
