This was great venue for the folk festival and Nellies, was the nickname as the old landlady dispensed beer by ladle or someother such means and was I was told a character, I got the impression the tables downstairs were wooden and big and had many a scrubbing down

Upstairs still lit by gaslight and wicks on the wall for many a year, late Geoff Turner did the door during folk festival and had help from Brenda and Norrie Spence (now in Leeds at the Grove fc!) and Chris Wade a festival director
