For those concerned with spelling: The "Spailpín Fánach" Alt Gr + vowel gives the accent on my keyboard. The síneadh fada (accent over the vowel) is important in Irish; e.g. "Cas" means "twist" or "turn" "Cás" means "case" It also effects the pronunciation. That's pedantry for ye! In fairness to Good Soldier even the owners of the pub can't get the spelling right. They used to sell T-shirts to the unwary with "Spailpin Fanac" which is meaningless in Irish. Anyway, it's still a very nice bar with friendly staff and some nice sessions. The Cork Singers' Club has been running for 22 years now, most of that period in the Spailpín. Dick Miles is always a very entertaining guest with material we don't often hear. I'm sure Sunday night will be most enjoyable.
