Jack Harris : The Goose Is Out! The Old Nun's Head, 15 Nunhead Green London SE15 3QQ.
Doors 7.45pm/ £7
Floorpsots welcome

The Goose has (have?) admired Jack Harris for a long time as a fantastic singer and songwriter, and we thought it was about time we gave him a headlining gig!

Jack was the first international (ie non-American) artist to win the New Folk songwriting competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Texas. Previous winners include Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, Gillian Welch and Devon Sproule.

Jack has gigged frequently in the UK, USA and Europe, both as a support act and headline performer. He has made several appearances at The Green Man Festival, and opened for some of folk music's biggest names, including Dick Gaughan, Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, as well as contemporary songwriters like Anais Mitchell and Jeffrey Foucault.

Jack's live show is a riveting mix of song-craft and story-telling, adorned by intricate fingerstyle guitar and smoky, soulful vocals. Drawing from the narrative traditions of folk and blues music, Jack brings both into the here and now; a "born poet", whose songs are steeped in myth and mystery.

"Jack Harris is a priest of song who holds himself to a rigorous, ancient code of beauty most of us have forgotten exists."— Anaïs Mitchell
