Caroline Paton requested me to add her note to Mudcat. May 27, 2015 Yesterday we lost one of the great ones. Art Thieme was the real deal, a consummate teller in story and song, an icon of Americana. Further more, he was a beautiful person, a real "mensch." My husband, Sandy, met Art in Chicago in 1960 or 1961. Sandy was selling folk records in a big store downtown. As I recall, Art was in high school then, and working part-time in another music store nearby. He'd come over on his breaks and he and Sandy would "Walk each other's minds..." (a reference to a line in "Go With Me," a song by Rosalie Sorrels) It was a lifelong bond. Our heartfelt condolences to Carol and Chris and his family. Caroline Paton Folk-Legacy Sharon, CT.
