After I posted my comment, above, I got to wondering if there were any connection between the bridge of the Shirley Ellis song:

3-6-9 The goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the streetcar line
The line broke.
The Monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven in a little rowboat

And this verse from "Hop Along Peter":

Old Mother Hubbard and her dog were Dutch
A bow legged rooster and hobbled on a crutch
Hen chawed tobacco and the duck drank wine
The goose played the fiddle on the pumpkin vine.
