On Saturday 17 October, Hartlepool Folk Festival commemorates the 30th anniversary of the end of the Miners strike with a special event. Come All Ye Bold Miners is a concert inspired by the song anthology of the same name, collected by AL Lloyd. It features Dick Gaughan and Durham Miners Association Brass Band, as well as performers including Pete Wood and The Wilsons. Three people who contributed songs to the book, Bert Draycott, Ed Pickford and Johnny Handle, will also perform. The concert takes place in St Hilda's Church on the Hartlepool Headland. Two screenings during the weekend will be on a similar theme: Death of a Miner, the BBC's 1967 film about Jack Elliott of Birtley, and 2014's Still the Enemy Within. The latter is funded by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and is free for all to attend. Tickets are available from www.hartlepoolfolkfest.co.uk
