From an old LP (transferred to CD) called "On Tour" by a group called The Countrymen, ca 1965, another verse (relying a bit on memory - it's a couple of hours since I played it): Her whole family's at the door, and they're yelling "Come on out!" They've got shotguns, forty-fours, and forty-fives, So I better get to church, 'cause if I leave her in the lurch, I reckon I'll be the deadest guy alive.
