I've been doing it, on and off, for the last 35 years though now I seldom look at my family. I usually just volunteer to do friends if they're curious. I did win an award from wikipedia for being the first person to ever sort out John Lennon's family tree. Every book about him had the wrong information about his family. A lot of famous authors were not happy.
