Here's some film from YouTube (a short piece, around 14 minutes from les Blank) of Tommy Jarrell playing a genuine Strad at the Library of Congress. It doesn't sound like a strad, it sounds like Tommy Jarrell. It's the player not the instrument. There was recently a double blind test of great violinists playing different instruments. they coldn't agree as to what was better the old ones or the modrn copies. My Old Fiddle Mark Ross
