The lovely thing about a properly treated hypothyroid condition is the way the body relaxes when it gets what it needs, and running a body with adequate thyroid energy is completely different than running it on adrenaline energy.

My internist agrees that women do well with a TSH around 1.0. She also pays attention to symptoms, however, and over time we've come to agree that my optimal range is .02-.05; I'm medicated accordingly.

Adjusting to THAT life change has actually been more complicated than recovery from surgery, it's complications, adrenal exhaustion, or menopause.

Michelle, some women report getting a surprise pregnancy after thyroid treatment is optimized....
