If you watch the documentary THERE BUT FOR FORTUNE there is footage of Phil performing on an X-rated cable show (Midnight Blue?) playing my Schmuckler guitar. I ran into him and Jim Glover on MacDougal Street and he was on his way to appear at the taping (which was done in the Cafe Wha?). He didn't have his guitar and he asked if he could borrow mine.As he was walking onto the set he missed a step. Y'know that sound when someone missed a step and lands down hard on the one below. My back was turned at the moment (I was talking to the cute waitress) and for a moment I thought he had fallen down with my custom made instrument, which I had just gotten after months of waiting for it to be finished. I was ready to kill him myself! This was just a couple of months before he decided that he had had enough. A great talent (and a lost soul). Mark Ross
