I had a Ford Cortina 1600 E but tp protect it I bought a Morris Minor Traveller because I was doing a house up. I used it for carrying lots a dirty heavy loads. She took all I could throw at her working heroically for well over a year. It did have a habit of stopping suddenly cutting out. This turned out to be a worn fuel pump. For a while I used to hit the pump with one of my rugby boots and it would start. Eventually of course I had to change the pump but second hand ones were very cheap and easy to fit.

After I finished the house. I worked on the car bringing it up looking almost as new. Sold it for much more than I paid.

Worst car I ever drove was a brand new Morris Marina. No miles on the clock and I was delivering it to a customer in London. The Bloody thing was all over the road and when I stopped at a petrol station for fuel, I could not disengage the steering lock. Had to call out the AA who couldn't do it on the spot, so they hot wired it so I could drive it. What a nightmare motor.
