What is it about Win 8.1 that you hate, and what problems do you have with it? It could be that these features are in Win 10 as well, in which case you'll end up hating it too. If your problems are with old programs or peripherals it's unlikely to solve them.

FWIW - which is not much - I updated a Win 7 machine to Win 10 and it works fine. I had to some faffing about to get it as I wanted - there are many features hidden.
