GUEST,Michael Origins: My Donkey Want Water (70* d) RE: Origins: Me Donkey Want Water 29 Nov 15

Over Thanksgiving dinner my sister informed me that the song "Me donkey want water, (hold him Joe) refers to acts of the slave master towards the female slave.

Me Donkey is the slave master. "Want water" refers to the slave master heading to select a female slave to quench his sexual desires.

"Hold him Joe" revered to the slaves keeping the husband of the unfortunate salve who is getting ready to be raped by the slave master restrained.
Was looking for verification.

The original version of the song was done in 1910, would not be surprised if the song was derived from the above.
