My father, James Willam H. Smith, MD wrote this song. He was a teacher of medicine at Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City. I recall letters from Katie Lee to him. Van Monroe sang a modified version in a western movie. The original lyrics was lift up your long ears, not head. That's about all I remember, but I can find out more if anyone wants to know. Thanks!
