The RSPB count comes at exactly the time when we have the lowest number of species 1100 feet up in the Pennines! Usually turns out to be a couple of crows and a magpie and a shivering blackbird. A fortnight later we have had the first skylark singing, meadow pippits, goldfinches, robins, great tits etc.
