This weekend British Home Stores has closed its doors for the last time. This means that every store that made West Ealing the main shopping area in the 60s and 70s has either closed down, or moved (Rouses - Woolworths - Marks & Spencer - BHS, and replaced by the likes of Poundland, Brighthouse. Surely now this means that a line can be drawn under the company's losses brought about by being milked when it was in profit, and mismanaged thereafter, and registered on a mutual basis (crowd ownership), gradually reopening the stores and reinstating the British Home Stores brand, without the burden of the previous debts and liabilities.
