Thomas Stern Joan Baez Portrait(label) recordings CD (2) Joan Baez Portrait(label) recordings CD 03 Sep 16

FYI - BGO in the UK has released a 2 CD set (priced as 1 CD)
containing 3 albums issued on the PORTRAIT label (EPIC/CBS/SONY).

The albums included are:

Many A Mile To Freedom (A. Capaldi, S. Winwood)
Miracles (J. Baez)
Yellow Coat (S. Goodman)

Cambodia (J. Baez)
Soyuz Druzyei (B. Okudzava)
Here's To You (J. Baez, E. Morricone)
Blowin' In The Wind (B. Dylan)

The thick booklet contains notes, texts, credits, drawings
from the original issues, PLUS an essay on Baez's career
and recordings by John O'Regan, and a list of website resources.

My only complaint: BGO missed the opportunity to provide
collectors with a comprehensive collection of Baez's issued
CBS recordings.

The EUROPEAN TOUR album provided here is the version issued
on LP in the UK. There were 4 countries which issued selections
from that tour, UK, SPAIN, GERMANY, FRANCE. Each album contained
a core selection of songs, plus songs unique to each country's
release.
The FULL selection of 19 songs, rather than just the 11 tracks
on the UK album SHOULD have been made available
to fans and collectors of Joan Baez recordings.

The Boxer (P. Simon
Don't Cry For Me Argentina (T. Rice, A. L. Webber)
Gracias A La Vida (V. Parra)
The Rose (A. McBroom)

Donna Donna (A. Zeitlin, S. Secunda)
For Sasha (J. Baez)
Maria Dolores (F. Garcia, J.
No Nos Moveran (raditional)

Diamonds & Rust (J. Baez)
Jari Yahamouda (A. Hamza)
Rossinyol (raditional)
Cambodia (J. Baez)

Soyuz Druzyei (B. Okudzava)
Plaisir D'Amour (M. il Tedesco)
Pauvre Ruteboeuf (Ferre, Ruteboeuf)
Le Deserteur (B. Vian)

Kinder (Sind So Kleine Hande) (B. Wegner)
Here's To You (J. Baez, E. Morricone)
Blowin' In The Wind (B. Dylan)

In addition, there were a two tracks issued by COLUMBIA in an
Earl Scruggs album.
My Home's Across The Blue Ridge Mountains
Love is just a four letter word

Anyone know of additional material issued on the COLUMBIA
family of labels by Joan Baez ????

The CDs as issued by BGO are a welcome addition to the Baez CD
discography, at a bargain price, with excellent annotations.

BGO missed the opportunity ot provide the complete
recordings of this period in Ms. Baez's career. Perhaps
they can issue a supplemental disc containing those rarities.

Best wishes, Thomas.
