Whitby still is a great festival - not noticeably changed from when Malcolm ran it. If anyone is making money from it I would be very surprised, the organising committee or a lot of the people who not only perform but also help those of us who come back time after time to learn something new. Yes, they get a free ticket that they have no time to use. Where else can you get a ticket for a full week so cheaply (next year £164 for pensioners - less than £20 / day)
