There's a banjo player in North Carolina who goes by the name of Joe Newberry. He plays old-timey, rootsy stuff, both traditional and modern, and is a good sngwriter in his own right. But I particularly admire him for his social media presence, especially on Facebook, where he posts almost every day. Joe is just a very nice guy, with a broad knowledge of the world and a wide range of interests, who never fails to remind his followers that we all have the capacity to do right in this life. He uses quotations, memes, personal photos, literary references and anecdotes about his family and the people he meets on his travels. He is always interesting, often critical, but never mean -- a model of appropriate use of an easily abused form of communication.
