Just an aside from the poem, a wee story about the author himself. A mate of mine, blues player Mike Brosnan told me his grandfather used to drink with Kavanagh, and reckoned Kavanagh told him he had only ever had one happy day in his life. Sort of goes with the poem. mcpiper
