If you have a bit more money, look into life care retirement communities, also called CCRCs or Continuing Care Retirement Communities. They contain independent living apartments (we have a 3 bedroom), assisted living, and nursing care. There are loads of activities and services. Once you buy in, for the price of selling our house, and a monthly fee comparable to what we paid living in our house, you get housing, meals, and medical care for life. And there are around 500 potential friends. We are very glad we moved here. But I wish there were some folkies here. Maybe some will move in as more baby boomers move in.
