I play a version of this adapted from the several versions printed in Bayard's "Dance to the Fiddle, March to the Fife" - where is is called 'Granny Will Your Dog Bite"(but I prefer the alliteration of 'does' over 'will )Lyrics quoted in Bayard include 'Granny Will your dog bite? - No child no ' and ' Johnny get your hair cut, hair cut, hair cut, Johnny get your hair cut just like me. Bayard links this tune to Pretty Betty Martin, amongst other titles. A question - it here an English tune called 'Johnny fetch your wife back' - or is that just the title of a dance?
