De-cluttering is one of the few benefits of the otherwise thoroughly unpleasant experience of moving. I'd suggest splitting the difference and dumping them on a major chain of thrift shop-relief org. North America's Salvation Army, Goodwill &c would try to sell them in piece or bulk. They do online sales of books as well. Failing that, they will do the proper recycling tasks.
