In Germany, a "Kiosk" is a small hut with a shop (usually for papers, cigarettes, candy). The poster pillars (as Joe Offer describes them) are called "Litfaßsäule", "Säule" meaning pillar, and "Litfaß" being the name of their inventor if I recall correctly. Usually they belong to the city (or some city-owned/controlled company) and you have to rent the place for your posters, and the fee includes putting up and removing the posters. There were quite many Litfaßsäulen some years ago, but nowadays they get fewer and fewer... Andreas
