Thanks for starting this thread, Wally. I thought about it, but I have a family crisis of my own going on right now.

Hearing of the state of Jay's illness on Wednesday morning was like getting slammed in the chest with a telephone pole. She was one of those people who were supposed to be here forever.

Tom and I were invited and started coming regularly to Indian Neck in 1992, thanks to Jay Smith. The Indian Neck community and Jay gave me my identity as a singer in my own right, not just as an adjunct to Tom Hall as his wife who sang with him.

Jay Hartman-Berrier introduced me on a personal level to the folk of folk music in the United States (and the wider world), outside of my comparatively small pond of The Press Room.

Indian Neck was Jay's life...and her memorial and legacy.

Linn
