GUEST,Mark. West Sussex. UK Non-smoking folk clubs in the UK (90* d) RE: Non-smoking folk clubs in the UK 29 Jan 01

Gosh, Julie. My perception is that these days the whole world is going smoke free. In Folk Diaries and Web Sites clubs actually boast of their non-smoking policies. In fact it is getting increasingly difficult to find a decent club where you can have a quiet passive fag. As to the Earl Grey, most places that serve tea or coffee will oblige with a cup of hot water if you take your own tea bag. As a very occasional smoker, ex-drinker (1986) and darjeeling addict I manage in most clubs. I do notice in non-smoking clubs that there is a fair amount of nicotine gum-chewing going on!
